I knew Doug as a credit union President and a community leader. I retired as President of Fairwinds CU of Orlando FL in 2003. I joined Space CU to support the CU in my new retirement city of Melbourne.
Doug Samuels was among the most honest, most service-oriented, and caring of the credit union executives. He focused on the cooperative tradition and "helped others to help themselves." We miss you already.

Doug, I enjoyed knowing you, you where stuck in your ways when you first came to SCCU but when we got to know you you were a wonderful person always talking to us and always asked about my family. You were a warm human being and will be missed.

Doug, I've always admired your commitment to your family and faith! I've been so thankful for you allowing me to feel like I'm part of your family to the point I'd forget I wasn't at times To this day I credit the blessing I received after the tree as the only reason I'm still here and thank you for that! I never realized how much you did for me thru all these years, especially thru the old Willy days, always checking out things in the pasture with the follow-up text that all was well b4 I got there and the many other things you did that I took for granted. The fact that I was able to have one last chat with you as you were preparing for one of your last climbs and I got to threaten to tell on you for doing it without supervision one more time, 😉, tho I'm sad now, it will bring a smile and chuckle to me many times for the rest of my life! I'm so glad to have had you in my life and I look forward to meeting you again, probably with a whole slew of critters following me when I do! You will be so missed by me and so many others whose lives you have touched!

Thanks Doug for being the example of a incredible human being. I will always remember you with a smile through the departments and halls of SCCU.I returned to SCCU in June 2016 because the values you established in this Credit Union are the same ones I value in my personal life.
My prayers for your family and friends...
    You will forever be remembered..

Doug, I will miss your wisdom, your wit, your thoughtfulness, your philosophies, and your vision. For the past 20 years you have shared these qualities with your colleagues and friends, and I have learned a great deal from you. Thank you for your friendship. Rest peacefully.

As a credit union professional working in Orlando, Doug Samuels was a man I had admired for several years.
Upon becoming a CEO myself, Meg and I were fortunate to have finally met Doug and Linda this year, and realize in person his wisdom and irreverent, but spot on, humor.
Doug was a great man and leader, and will truly be missed and always remembered.

I met Doug at a meeting of fellow CEOs. I was immediately taken by his persuasive personality. It is very easy to imagine the impact he had on his employees, friends, communities, and family because of the impact he had on few small meetings I attended with him. I will miss his voice.
