My beloved Uncle Bill was the best uncle a kid could want. I was a nerdy girl growing up in the 50s and loving things such as astronomy that girls weren't supposed to. Uncle Bill acted as if that were completely normal and encouraged me. What a tremendous gift that was. I can only imagine how many people he similarly touched with his loving kindness. As an adult, I was blessed with his friendship. When my BFF and I decided to go polar bear watching, Uncle Bill was the person I called; we shared a wonderful trip with him and Aunt Betty, a trip we talk about even now. Uncle Bill had a zest for life and knowledge and a generous, kind heart. He was simply the best, and I will miss him all my days.

Bill was a nice Christian man. He was a soft-spoken man. He always enjoyed it when the Sunday School class came over to their house to watch the Super Bowl game on TV and to have a party. May He rest in peace in your eternal kingdom.

Sorry to read of the passing of Bill Smith, who I knew as a patient for years. He always inspired me with his constant love of experiencing life. Well into retirement he traveled to Antarctica and to Hudson Bay Canada to see the polar bears. He most definitely did "not go gently into that good night". RIP.
