Jeanne Burleson

??

Born in Wadsworth, Ohio on June 19, 1927.
Departed in Melbourne, Florida on May 20, 2018

Jeanne Burleson, age 90 earned her heavenly wings on May 20th 2018. In the end, she was joyful at having lived a full life. Always in control, she told the Lord not to call her home until next month’s retirement checks cleared…that didn’t quite work out.
Born in Wadsworth Ohio, she was the daughter of Waldo E. Hatfield and Velma F. Penny. Jeanne was raised in Wooster, Ohio and later attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, where she met her future husband Charles W. Burleson.
Jeanne retired from the Brevard Public School system as an Art and English teacher at Central Jr. High School. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Not athletic in the classical sense, Jeanne amazed everyone when she out-golfed her family and scored a Hole-in-One. She loved the game!
Her great joys in retirement were times spent with her Pine Creek and St. John’s friends. She formed the morning swim aerobics group in her community and was the proud leader of the “Polar Bear Club”; a group of hardy cold weather water enthusiasts. Tuesdays were her knitters, Wednesdays cards and Saturdays for many years, alter guild at the church.
She is survived by her son Paul A. (& wife Lorraine) Burleson, daughter Wally Burleson (& wife Angie), grandchildren John (& wife Cassie) Burleson and Christina (& husband David) Shore and great granddaughters Kadence and Julianna.
Services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Melbourne. FL on Saturday June 16th at 1 PM.
Should friends desire, contributions in Jeanne’s honor are welcome to Caring Fields Felines (www.cffelines.org) or the St. John’s Outreach Fund (stjohnsmlb.org).
