MELBOURNE – Silence Arlene (Sally) Bennison Curry
Sally Bennison Curry, 91, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She was born in Detroit, MI on August 8, 1926. She graduated in 1944 from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, IN.
Sally moved to Florida in the 1945 and met Ancil Berry Curry in Miami and they married in 1946 and had four children. They lived in Miami, Fort Myers and moved to Eau Gallie in 1961. Sally worked as a Real Estate Broker and licensed Realtor in Fort Myers and then in Satellite Beach for Mark Realty. She was the General Manager at the Ramada Inn on US1 in Melbourne where she proudly retired after 17 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ancil Berry Curry; daughter, Angel (Curry) Fisher and son in law, Dirk Fisher; her parents, Dean Ben¬nison, Edith Pletcher Elliot; stepfather, Jack Elliot; sister, Jean McGowen.
Sally is survived by her children, Dean (Johana) Curry, Faith (John) Ross and Keith Curry; grandchildren, Clifford (Tammy) Curry, Joy (Carmel) Dixon, Kyle (Valerie) Curry, Myla (Kenneth) Johnson, Spencer (Brittany) Ross, Kelsie Curry, Dean Ross, Hunter Curry, Courtnie Curry; two great grandchildren, Samara Curry and Teagan Dixon; and an extended family of nieces and cousins, and in-laws.
Sally was very active earlier in life with her children taking them to the beach in Fort Myers and Eau Gallie and later with the VFW. She was well known as “Sally from Eau Gallie” and enjoyed driving her red Pontiac convertible around town. Later in life Sally enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as reading and playing Bingo with her friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, from 1-2 pm at Brownlie-Maxwell Chapel with a service to follow at 2:00 pm, by Reverend Beth Head from Unity Church of Melbourne. brownliemaxwell.com
