Frank Theodore Kitchel, 76, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

Frank leaves his wife, Marilyn; three children, Frank (Anne), Bill (Suzanne), and Susan (Len); eight grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Ryan, Daniel, Katie, David, Jennifer, and Matthew; five siblings, Robert Kitchel (deceased), Judith Rothgery (John, deceased), Jeanine Kitchel (Paul Zappella), Patricia Rasor, and John Kitchel (Lana); and eight nieces and nephews, Christopher, Jeffrey, Kelley, Robert, Eric, Noah, Nicholas, and Luke.

Frank was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1940. Growing up, he was a superb baseball, softball, and tennis player. Frank attended Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and played on the university tennis team. He graduated in 1962 with a degree in business administration. He went on to lead a distinguished career in finance, which led him and his family to Charlotte, Detroit, Pittsburgh, New York, and Chicago. Frank spent the majority of his retirement years as a member of Suntree Country Club in Melbourne.

Wherever his career led him, Frank was an active member in the local Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He particularly enjoyed playing in church softball leagues with his sons and daughter. Upon relocating to Melbourne, he became an active member of Faith Viera Lutheran Church and served in the Stephen Ministries. He was a loyal supporter and fan of the Eastern Florida State basketball team, coached by Marilyn's grandson, Jeremy Shulman.

Frank played the accordion and was a lifelong fan of Al Jolson. He remained an avid tennis player and golfer throughout his life and particularly enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs to their much-anticipated World Series win in 2016. His grandchildren will fondly remember his affinity for corny riddles and his self-proclaimed moniker of 'Mr. Wonderful.'

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 13th at Faith Viera Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Drive, Viera, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Memorial Fund in memory of Frank Kitchel at Faith Viera Lutheran Church.
