Melbourne, FL—-Lillian Amedee’ (Reyes) Lewis-Alonzo, 82 entered the Gates of Heaven Friday, May 15, 2026 with her loving family by her side.
Lillian was born February 9, 1944 in Humaco, PR to Jose Manuel Reyes-Medina and Susana Pujos-Mejias. She is survived by Lawrence (Larry) J. Alonzo, her loving husband, best friend and dancing partner for the past 22 years.
Lillian attended schools in Juncos, PR and Miami, FL graduating from Edison High School. She received her Family Child Care Training Certificate at Nova Southeastern University and Patient Care/Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide from Daytona Beach Community College.
She was Owner/Operator, of Lewis Home Daycare in Pembroke Pines, FL for 18 years, serving on the County Daycare Oversite Board, followed by providing care of Pediatric, Geriatric, Physically, Mentally and Terminally Ill Patients at Nursing Homes, Physicians’ Offices & Private Homes in DeLand, FL for the next 19 years.
She attended Sunday Mass at St. Peters Catholic Church for 30 years and served as an usher for the last several years there with her husband.
Lillian was extremely loving and caring to all people and animals especially children, her 5 dogs, 2 cats, seven birds and several feral cats.
She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and ballroom, country, swing & line dancing five nights a week, and a longtime member of both American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
Besides her husband Larry, she leaves a beautiful and caring family that loved and adored her so very much, daughter Cathi Principi-Bell and Charlie Bell; son Ron and Shelly Lewis; son Mark and Kelli Lewis; daughter Tina and Nick Bruce; Larry M. Alonzo; Annemarie and Michael Morin; grandchildren; Kyle and Angela; Zachery and Amanda; Nicolas Mineo; Christian; Connor; Skylar and Greyson; Angela, Alexa & Joseph Morin; great-grandchildren Ayla, Everly Rae, Danial James and Dawson John Lewis and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her Parents, brother Jose Alfredo Reyes, sister Maria de Lourdes Rivera and brother Victor Manuel Reyes.
Larry and the family would like to thank the staff at Vitas Healthcare and Avante at Melbourne for their amazing care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, your local Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
Services will be private, but memorial Masses and a Celebration of Her Life will be scheduled in Melbourne and Connecticut.
