Lynn Miller Thompson, 79, of Melbourne, FL passed away at her home on August 6, 2026.
Lynn was born in Cheverly, MD to Edythe and Francis (Fritz) Miller. She was a beloved wife,
mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and her presence will be missed. Lynn is survived by
her son Michael (Bethany) Thompson, granddaughter Miriam Thompson, sisters Bonnie
Miller, Pat (Miller) Jones, Mary Miller, and Linda (Miller) Zenick, and numerous nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Charlie
“Tom” Thompson, a Melbourne native.
Lynn moved with her family to the Melbourne area in 1948, and the Miller family has been
working, living, and contributing to the community ever since. Lynn graduated with honors
from Melbourne High School in 1964, and attended Florida Southern University in
Lakeland, FL. In 1966, she married Charlie “Tom” Thompson. During the course of her
younger life, Lynn worked as a secretary in the FIT President’s oXice. Later in life she worked
as a preschool teacher, and as an accountant. After retirement, she worked at
Burdine’s/Macy’s, making an art of wrapping gifts. She was a long-standing member of the
First United Methodist Church of Melbourne, and served in numerous roles supporting their
community and teaching Sunday School.
A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026 in the chapel at
Resurrection Grace Church (formerly the First United Methodist Church of Melbourne).
Burial will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 12:30pm, where she will be
interred with her beloved Charlie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pilot Club of South
