Salvatore Caccamo
Sal was born July 8,1957 in Newark, New Jersey. Living part of his childhood at the Boardwalk and moving with his family to Broward County, Florida. In 1990, he relocated to Melbourne Beach where he raised his three children spending time at the beach, on his boat, and soccer fields acting as a Girls Soccer Coach for his daughter for many years. I had the privilege to met Sal Caccamo, Phil Benincasa, Lee Bennett, and many more throughout his 30 plus years of Public Service. While he started out as a Public Safety Officer, as time progressed, he soon gave up their guns permanently for strict fire duties. Sal went from a firefighter up to the rank of Battalion Chief when he retired in 2009 from the Broward County Sheriff’s and Fire rescue. While employed he was a Certified EMT, and a Fire Inspector. After retirement, Sal moved to Elizabethton, TN and joined the Carter County Sheriff Department and worked many roles including: volunteer, transport, court, traffic, and ultimately found his passion working with children as a School Resource Officer at Hampton Highschool. He was beloved by his community, and described as having a heart of a servant. Sal loved animals and the outdoors often riding his motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and lobstering. Sal enjoyed spending countless hours on vacations with family and friends.
Sal is survived by his three adult children and son-in-law, Erin Caccamo, Maria Leiper & Shane Leiper, Ernest Caccamo. Two Granddaughters, Liv and Joan Leiper. Two sisters, Dorothy, and Maria Teresa.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Melbourne Beach on Saturday, March 22nd at 11 am, with cremains burial and reception preceding.
