Sheila Marie Platt Winn
Sheila Marie Platt Winn, 78, passed away on June 20, 2026, in Melbourne, Florida. She was born in Melbourne on September 13, 1947, the youngest daughter of Francis Marion and Lorena Partin Platt, a multi-generational cattle ranching family. She is survived by sisters, Barbara Heckman, Vera Brower, Glenda (Lad) D’Angelo
Sheila graduated Melbourne High School in1965 and attended Brevard Community College for 2 years. She married Samuel David Winn (David) the love of her life on March 1, 1969, and worked as a medical illustrator which helped Samuel through optometry college. They were faithfully married for 57 years.
Sheila and David had four children, Calvin, Jessica (Steve) Braz, Justin (Christi) and Carson (Heather). She also had nine grandchildren, Alida, Killian, Ryleigh, Blake, Gavin, Teagan, Landon, Hunter and Harper
The family made friends with an exchange student from Japan. Hiro Taguchi was treated like a son and is now married to Yanzi which has two children, Julia and Max.
Shiela was a devoted soccer mom and attended as many games as she could. Sheila truly loved all the grandchildren and would always help when asked. She loved cooking with the grandkids and one of her favorite things to cook were biscuits with the granddaughters. As the grandchildren aged, Sheila and David would attend school events, soccer games, baseball games and dance recitals as they could to support the grandchildren.
Sheila also was active and served faithfully in her church which she attended weekly. She had a giving nature and was always there to help friends in need. She enjoyed keeping up with friends from school and helping to organize Melbourne High reunions.
Sheila will truly be missed by everyone and will be carried in our hearts until we see her again.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 26th from 10:00 to 11:00 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 at Brownlie-Maxwell Chapel. Interment will follow at the Melbourne Cemetery.
