Loretta Irene Goss Isenberg-Hand

Loretta Irene Goss Isenberg-Hand was born in Altoona,PA December 13 1934
and died in Rockledge FL August 4, 2026. She attended school in Tyrone PA
and after graduation attended nursing school.
Loretta and her first husband , Robert Isenberg, moved to Melbourne in the early
1970s After his death she connected with her high school sweetheart, Richard
Hand. Richard moved to Melbourne and they were married at Redeemer
Lutheran Church on August 23, 1997.
Her nursing career, spanning over 60 years, began in Pennsylvania. She was
Manager of Harris Corp Employee Health for over 25 years where she was
respected and loved by the employees. She also worked for Health First’s
program and during her tenure it was recognized as one of the outstanding
programs in Florida.
After Richard’s death and her health declined, Linda Miller assumed her care.
Loretta was moved to Greenwood Place Assisted Living. She was a favorite
resident, participating in the many activities — watching movies, playing Bingo
— and of course, singing. Oh how she loved to sing! She maintained her lovely
singing voice well into her 80’s. As long as she was able to get out, Hope
Lutheran members brought her to church. As a life long Lutheran, this was very
important to her and gave her a chance to sing the hymns she loved.
Loretta was elected as s District 6 Melbourne City Council Member in 1976 and
served as such through November of 2006, until term limits were imposed.
During her 28 years she served as Vice Mayor six separate times.
Loretta’s children, Deborah Jenkins and Jeffrey Isenberg, predeceased her. She
is survived by her grandsons Jonathan Jenkins of Galivants Ferry, South
Carolina, Nathaniel Jenkins of Fayetteville, North Carolina and step-daughter
Crystal Cataflu and her husband, Vince of Corey, Pennsylvania.
Memorial Service will be held Sunday September 20, 2026, 3:00 p.m. at Hope
Lutheran Church, 4541 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida. Interment
will be Tuesday, September 20, 2026 10:30 a.m. at Cape Canaveral National
Cemetery 5525 US1, Mims, Florida.
