Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Terry Green passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the age of 69. He is survived by wife Laura; son Terry Green Jr.; daughter Crystal Green; granddaughters Evie and Opal Rasmussen; niece Julia Swilling; sisters Kimberly Green and Mary Green; brothers Dan Smith, Bill Partin, Randy Buchold, Nathan Green, Jr., Norman Green, Mike and Kyle Brabaugh. Terry was predeceased by his sister Ann Bonds.
He was born in Rome, New York on May 1, 1954 to Nathan Green, Sr. and Eleanor Howland. He was a race car driver, mechanic and hauled scrap. He was a great husband, father and Poopah, and will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be held at Brownlie Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne, Florida at 11 am on July 29, 2023, with a lunch scheduled afterwards at 1pm at Dustin’s BBQ, Melbourne Florida. All friends and family are welcome.
Terry was more than a father and husband, he was our best friend; the loss is immeasurable, and below is a touching tribute from our daughter, that pretty much sums up how we all feel:
To my dad: You will be truly missed. There won’t be a day that goes by we don’t think about you. You are the strongest, kindest and most honest man I’ve ever known. You have taught me so much in this life. You showed me how to be kind, strong, and loving. The reason I am me is because of you. Terry Alan Green my hero.
You showed me the value in people and the bonds we can make. You showed me what a man is supposed to be like and how he is always there for his family. And the importance of a hard day’s work. You went out into the world every day fearless, always. Going out and meeting new people was something you thrived on and over the years you made so many people in the community your friends and always cherished them. The way you always had so much faith in people was remarkable and you never judged anyone no matter who they were, or their circumstances and you made me see that no one person is better than the next, we are all human.
I definitely got my sense of humor from you, and you never lost yours, I will always cherish all the laughter you brought into my life. You always reminded of all the good left in the world and that we should stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. You stood up for a little boy named Adam Walsh when no one else would. I couldn’t be more proud of you for fighting for little Adam.
I want to thank you for always being there for me and my family. I couldn’t have asked for a better dad. You were so happy to be a grandpa, both times so incredibly happy. You always said kids are the most fun in life, and I agree. I only wish we had more time to spend with you. I would be so happy if they both grow up to be just like you.
I’m so thankful to be your daughter and I can’t wait to see you again. I’d do anything just to hold your big beautiful, callused hand one more time. The world is way too quiet without you here. I know you’re up in heaven still blowing their doors off, nothing could ever slow you down.
