Cheryl Van Deventer Townsend was born on December 31, 1967 in Clearwater, Florida to Gary and Shirley Van Deventer. She unexpectedly passed away on May 5, 2024 in Rockledge, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her dad, Gary Van Deventer.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter Maya Townsend; her mother Shirley Van Deventer; two brothers Tim (Connie) Van Deventer and David Van Deventer; nieces Tamara Van Deventer, Meagan Sutton, and Katie Van Deventer; great nieces Leven Abernethy and Kelsey Sutton; and great nephew Sloane Abernethy as well as many more family and friends.

Her love and devotion was to her daughter Maya, of whom she was very proud. She loved and cherished her very much.

She had a close relationship with God, her family, and her friends.

Cheryl was never without friends throughout her personal and professional life. She called her life-long friends Dawn Edwards, Nancy Thompson & Karen Patterson her “BFFs Forever” and created many beautiful memories over the years.

She enjoyed selling retro and vintage items, finding treasures, making jewelry, yoga, walking, researching healthy nutrition and sharing her finds with others; painting, crafting, games and anything creative.

Cheryl graduated from Cocoa High School in 1985 and was a proud Tiger! She furthered her education at UCF where she studied Communication Disorders. She owned and operated ABC Therapies of Florida from 2005-2021.

Cheryl was beautiful inside and out, loving, caring and kind. She will be sadly missed and always remembered as someone who sought and shared joy wherever she went.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Lighthouse Christian Church, 1250 N Banana River Drive, Merritt Island, Florida 32952.
