Donna Margaret (Hackney) Boudreaux

Donna was born on August 4, 1944, in Revere, Massachusetts. As a young child, she was adopted by her grandmother Margaret (McAllister) Hackney and Billy Hackney and raised in Havre de Grace, Maryland. She later moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where she graduated from Mercy Academy. While in Louisville, Donna met and married Numa “Bud” Boudreaux on June 19, 1964, at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Upon Bud’s graduation from the University of Louisville and full commission in the US Navy, Donna accompanied Bud as a proud Navy Wife to the many port-of-calls during Bud’s 20 years of service. During that time, Donna raised two loving children, Desma and Glenn (“Scott”). Following Bud’s retirement from the Navy, the couple moved to Brevard County, Florida in support of Bud’s work with Harris Corporation and later Northrop Grumman. Donna and Bud remained in the Melbourne, Florida area following retirement.

Donna had many passions, including UK basketball, unique collections (the many birdhouses!), buying copious amounts of Christmas presents for her grandchildren, cooking unique dishes (don’t forget the infamous Jello mold!), rescuing cats (up to 14 at one point), travel (as long as it did not involve flying), and keeping the casinos profitable. But Donna’s most memorable passion, and the one she will be most remembered for, was her passion for making sure everyone around her was happy.
Donna is survived by her husband Numa (“Bud”) Boudreaux III, brother Glenn Hackney, daughter Desma (Boudreaux) Cowhill and her husband Joseph Cowhill, son Glenn Scott Boudreaux, granddaughter Jennifer Cowhill, grandson Patrick Cowhill and his wife Nathalia (Ricardo) Cowhill.
A funeral service will be held for Donna on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Brownlie & Maxwell Chapel with Deacon Dan Powers presiding.
