Faye Elaine Glaze Jakubowski

Born February 6, 1948 in Akron, Ohio
Passed September 16, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida

Faye Elaine Glaze (Jakubowski), a spirited wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved husband, Paul Jakubowski, on September 16, 2024, in Palm Bay, FL. Born on February 6, 1948, in Akron, Ohio to Mabel Marie Grudier and Bert Leslie Glaze, Faye was the youngest of 14 children and a true daddy’s girl.

To the oldest of the Glaze kids, Faye was more like a daughter than a sibling. As the baby of the giant Glaze clan, she quickly learned how to hold her own and make her presence known. She developed a love for thrills and adventure early in life, jumping on the beds and trading chores for rides on her brother Dick’s motorcycle. Faye overcame many challenges in her younger years that helped shape her into the tough, sarcastic, and loving woman that we all knew and loved.

After her father’s passing in 1955, Faye’s family relocated to West Palm Beach, where she embraced life as a Florida girl, reveling in the sun, the surf, and — let’s be honest — the cigarette smoke. She began a love affair with cigarettes that lasted until the very end, famously demanding a smoke break at the hospice center and insisting that the “two grown a** men” in the room (her husband Paul and Grandson, Tim), carry her outside for a “sneaky sneak”.

In the mid-1960s, Faye welcomed her two children, Steven and Lisa, into the world and later embraced her role as grandmother to Lisa’s sons, Tim, Travis and Todd. Her heart grew even bigger with the arrival of her great grandchildren, Cali and Carter, who she spoiled like they were the last chocolates in the box. One of Faye’s greatest accomplishments was being able to watch after her great grandchildren during their first couple of years.

Faye’s greatest adventure began when she met Paul Jakubowski, her husband of 31 years. After a whirlwind romance sparked by mutual friends, they became inseparable, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures (and occasional mischief). Faye’s life was enriched by her deep love for Paul. They married in 1993 and shared a bond, forged through friendship and mutual support, that brought joy to all who knew them. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and shared passions, including singing in the church choir.

Faye was a vibrant spirit, known for her kindness, humor and tenacity – she loved shooting pool, driving fast cars, fishing, and keeping Paul on his toes. She was one of the hardest workers and approached every project she was involved in with gusto. Faye could paint a house, in and out, hang drywall, mow and weed. She took pride in her ‘green thumb’ and graduated from Brevard Community College as a Master Gardener. Her yard and home is an oasis of vibrant, thriving plants and stands as a testament to her love for gardening. Faye’s culinary skills were equally impressive. She had a passion for cooking and took much joy in baking with her great grandchildren and in delighting her friends and family with her favorite dishes.

Faye also dabbled in makeup sales, flooding our Facebook feeds with Younique products, live make-up unboxings, and tutorials. It was during one of these live videos, while doing her great granddaughter, Cali’s make-up, that Faye hilariously tumbled off of her chair. Cali, giggling uncontrollably, exclaimed to their live audience, “GiGi just fell!” and proceeded to do her own make-up while ‘GiGi’ scrambled to her feet in the background.

In addition to her many hobbies and passions, Faye volunteered her time to several causes and was deeply involved with the American Cancer Society. She also worked for Collins Avionics for 18 years.

While suffering through cancer and treatments, Faye continued to spread positivity and kept smiling. Even in hospice, her infectious laughter filled the hallway as she joked with her nurses. She held tight to her sense of humor and resilience until the very end.

Faye Elaine Glaze Jakubowski will be remembered for her spirit and laughter, unwavering love for her family, and her unique ability to light up any room — whether with her smile or her cigarette! She found warmth, humor, and joy in every moment. She soothed wounds with her words and her hugs mended hearts. Faye has found eternal life, not only in heaven, but here, in the hearts and minds of the many people who loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Paul Jakubowski; son Steven Henderson (Erin Henderson); daughter Lisa Kelley; grandsons Tim Cook Jr., Travis Callahan (Michael Donahue), and Todd Cook; great-grandchildren Calianna Cook, Carter Cook and their mother, Hope Reid; siblings Loretta Glaze (Bill Hendrock), Virginia Lee Glaze (Ray Smith), Richard Eugene Glaze (Belinda Glaze), Sandy Lyn Glaze (Ed Kisselburg), and Judy Ann Glaze (Tom Gehman). She also leaves many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Faye was predeceased by her parents Mabel Marie Grudier and Bert Leslie Glaze; siblings Roy L. Glaze, Ted Glaze, Doris Merle Glaze, Evelyn Marie Glaze, Robert Douglas Glaze, Edward David Glaze, and Becky Glaze and her beloved pets, Lilly the Poodle and cat Willy.

On Friday, November 1, 2024, Faye will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for all of her family and friends will be held on November 16th from 11 am to 3 pm, at the Palm Lake Estates (Arrowwood) Clubhouse – 1000 Fell Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904.

If anyone is interested in assisting with arrangements, food, or funds for the Celebration of Life, please reach out to Hope or Paul.

P.S. – Please take a moment to share your love and memories in the digital guestbook below. All comments will be printed for her family to keep and will be displayed at the celebration. Thank you.

Faye and Paul have been constants for my daughter Hope and their great grandchildren, Cali and Carter. Their love and unwavering support have meant the world. Gigi has always been one of their favorites, present for everything, no matter how big or small. She enriched lives in all the ways that matter, her time and her love. Her smile and zest were infectious, always a joy to be around. We’ll miss you Faye, but your memories will always bring smiles and comfort. We carry you with us.

Faye took me to my first concert at Blossom Music Center. Earth, Wind & Fire and another act. Traffic was so congested we walked the last couple miles. It was outdoors and a very “smoky” night. And, Yes we indulged right along with the crowd. I had to talk her into going to Cleveland with me to see Elvis. She was into a lot of hippie stuff and she wasn’t impressed with him. But…. She screamed along with the rest of us and became a big fan of his. She was a phenomenal cook and gardener. She was very artistic, loved crafts. Loved making things for people. She was easy to talk with, non-judgmental but always brought her own perspective to the conversation. We had many adventures and mis-adventures together. Me, Faye, Judy and Richard being the youngest; grew close over the years. That continues to this day. Faye loved her family. Our world will not be the same without her.
