Born on January 22, 1942 in Reading, Pennsylvania
Passed on January 20, 2026 in Melbourne, Florida
Gerald Carl Hain passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on January 22, 1942, in Reading, Pennsylvania, and passed away just two days before his 84th birthday.
Gerald was the beloved husband of Vivian, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Brian of College Park, Maryland, and Steven of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and a loving father-in-law to Steven’s wife, Kathryn. He was a proud grandfather—“Pop Pop”—to Jackson and Austin.
He is also survived by his brother, Larry Hain, of Mohrsville, Pennsylvania.
Gerald retired from Lucent Technologies in Reading, Pennsylvania. During his many years of retirement, he remained active managing his rental properties until relocating to Florida in 2018. Once in Florida, his focus shifted to his grandchildren. He was often found at the fields cheering them on in their activities or by the water, patiently helping remove fish from their hooks.
Gerald found great joy in searching for the best crab cakes, enjoying water adventures, bicycling, and spending time with friends. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop who deeply cherished time with his family.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Gerald’s memory:
