James Kenneth Sullivan
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, James Kenneth Sullivan, affectionately known as “Pops” on February 12, 2025.
Born on August 3, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Marion and Willis Sullivan, he lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to his family and passions.
A proud veteran, Pops served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at March Air Force Base and later on the island of Crete, Greece. Following his service, he pursued higher education at Ohio State University and Cal Poly Pomona, laying the foundation for a successful career. He worked for LOF Glass Company before becoming a business owner, first as a partner in Charlie’s Auto Glass and later founding his own company, All Star Glass.
Pops had an unwavering love for the game of golf, not only as an avid scratch golfer but also in his retirement, when he worked at Spessard Holland and Habitat golf courses, sharing his passion with others. When he wasn’t on the green, he could often be found fishing, boating, or taking long, meandering drives through the mountains and along the coast. His love for music was just as deep, with old-school jazz, R&B, and Southern rock always playing in the background of his life.
Above all, Pops cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary E. Sullivan, who was his greatest companion and favorite road trip partner. His legacy lives on through his children, Michael Sullivan, Patricia Hill, and Christina Hindman, as well as his stepchildren, Michael Hanson, Vicki Snyder, and Dwayne Hanson. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
A dedicated sports fan, Pops never missed a good game of golf or football. But more than anything, he never missed an opportunity to share a laugh with his family or to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. His kindness, humor, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Rest easy, Pops. May the fairways always be smooth, the fish always be biting, and the music always be playing.
