Lorraine Lucille (Oliver) Haley passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness. Born on October 7, 1931, to Olivia Oliver Ledoux, Lorraine endured early challenges with quiet strength. Following the loss of her mother to tuberculosis at age four, she was lovingly adopted by her devoted uncle and aunt, Manuel Oliver and Deolinda (Silveira) Oliver, who raised her with warmth and unwavering care.
Lorraine dedicated more than 40 years of her life to Woolworth’s five-and-dime store in Framingham, Massachusetts, where she worked as a loyal and cherished retail clerk until her retirement in 1987. Her strong work ethic, friendly demeanor, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on both coworkers and customers.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Haley, a proud U.S. Navy veteran and General Motors line inspector. Lorraine and Raymond shared a deep and abiding love. After retiring, they relocated to Indialantic-by-the-Sea, Florida, where they enjoyed a vibrant life filled with friendship, community, and involvement in the local senior club and VFW.
A devoted animal lover, Lorraine had a special bond with her many furry companions throughout the years, especially her cherished dog, Pumpkin. Her affection for animals was a constant in her life.
Lorraine also had a passion for travel, particularly with Raymond. She held dear memories of their trips to Hawaii and a meaningful journey to her ancestral homeland of Portugal and the Azores.
She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend. Lorraine was preceded in death by her sisters, Blanche Pearson and Lucille MacKinnon, and her brother, Robert Oliver. She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Allison Sferrazza, Suzanne Rothman, Bill Oliver, Linda Leshinski, Paul Pearson, Jack MacKinnon, Cindi MacKinnon and the late Catherine May. She is also fondly remembered by her second family, the Dexters (Lori, Kathy, Ricky and his wife Betty, Carol, Peter and his wife Barbara) whose companionship brought great joy throughout the years.
We will deeply miss Lorraine’s spunky spirit, quick wit, daily newspaper rituals, and the boundless affection she gave to her treasured dog friends Cleo, Kai, Maizy Bee, Luna, Tino, Betty and Remi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to the local SPCA—an organization that was dear to her heart.
In accordance with her wishes, Lorraine will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 4, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Calling hours will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Local arrangements are under the care of Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home.
