Pastor Wayne Guinn

Born May 30, 1942 in Clinton, Indiana
Departed July 30, 2023 in Melbourne, Florida

Pastor Wayne Guinn, known as “Preach” to many, went home to be with his Lord at the age of 81 on July 30, 2023.

Wayne is survived by his sister, Marilyn Ford, daughter, Beth Guinn and son, Kurt Guinn.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and his beloved wife.

Wayne was born on May 30, 1942 in Clinton, Indiana. There he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior as a nine-year old boy. Wayne grew up in and had a great love for the church.

He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, puzzles, and travelling, but one thing he will always be remembered for is music. Music was always a big part of his life and almost anytime he preached a sermon, you could count on him saying, “I thought of a song” and proceeding to sing or quote it.

Wayne married his high-school sweetheart, Linda, and they adopted two children, Beth and Kurt. Wayne was a faithful servant of God first and foremost. He had a heart for sharing the love of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible and a special passion for church planting and world missions.

He attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. After graduating, he served in various roles as Youth Pastor, Sunday School Director, Music Director and Associate Pastor at a number of churches across Ohio, Colorado and Michigan.

In 1976, the Guinn family moved to Melbourne, FL, where he pastored Bethany Baptist Church for 28 years. While at Bethany, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the CITA Rescue Mission. He also received two honorary doctorates from Puerto Rico Baptist Bible College and Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.

In 2004, the Guinn’s moved to Ohio where he helped initiate and direct the National Church Planting Office of the Baptist Bible Fellowship for the next 10 years. He was instrumental in training new pastors and establishing countless churches, retiring in 2014.

He and Linda returned to Florida and began attending Beacon Baptist Church. Shortly after, he joined the Pastoral Leadership Team where he served the next 7 years until his home going. He devoted his life to serving the Lord for 60 years. He was a loyal husband, loving father and faithful friend.

Wayne impacted the lives of more people than could be mentioned and his influence will no doubt continue to be felt.

Calling hour will be at The Beacon Baptist Church, 3185 Aurora Rd, Melbourne on Tuesday August 8th at 11am with a service to follow at 12 Noon.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to CITA Rescue Mission’s Helen’s House.
