Patricia Lynn Richard

Born February 5, 1958 in Schenectady, New York
Passed November 5, 2024 in Melbourne, Florida

Patricia Lynn Richard entered into her eternal home November 5th, where she without fear of death, longed to be present in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved family members.

Patricia was born to Mary Elizabeth and Arnold Roy Lavoy on February 5, 1958 into a family full of brothers and her sister. They enjoyed their childhood travels to visit family in Lititz, Pennsylvania, their time spent in their summer camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake in New York and many family trips to Florida.

She had a great drive to help and better the lives of others, and she loved to learn new skills. She became a registered nurse, worked focusing on medical homecare for the elderly, and when advances in technology occurred in the medical field she went back to college and became a computer programmer. Combining those skills she began implementing computers in local hospitals and later becoming a computer programmer analyst for major banking companies.

She met and married the love of her life Kevin John Richard in 1998. They have had over 25 years together, throughout life’s ups and downs always supporting each other.

Her desire to always learn more and contribute, led her to become a volunteer in many organizations and member of many social groups. While living in New York she contributed to her town and community through her volunteer work in the Northville Northampton Historical Society, and the Northville Civic Association.

Her love of animals led her to work as a dog show steward in both the Stewards Club of Upstate New York and the Space Coast Kennel Club of Florida where she made multiple lifelong friends.

She took special interest in the well-being of her city and country by participating in the local chapter of the Federated Republican Women in Action of Brevard County Florida.

Her church family consisted of many friends who she studied the word of God with in her small home group and grandparenting matters group. She volunteered at the Essential Pregnancy Care Center of Palm Bay because of her love for new mothers and the life of the unborn.

Her personal hobbies included many different crafts including knitting, sewing, embroidery and other fabric crafting; making use of her skills most recently with the crafts for missions group in her home church.

In addition to her parents Mary Elizabeth Sinz and Arnold Roy Lavoy, she was preceded in death by her brother John Maguire.

Those left to preserve her memory include her older brothers Frank Maguire, Kevin Maguire and sister Marie Blatchford; daughter Elissa Howard (Cameron) and their children, Remington, Maggie, Mercy and Merritt Howard. Her Husband Kevin John Richard and his children Candace LeFrance (Robert), Lindsay Allen (Tony), Ashley Richard and Steven Richard.

A celebration of Patricia’s life is to be held at Calvary Chapel Melbourne on Friday, November 22 promptly at 2pm in the church’s chapel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the Essential Pregnancy Center of Palm Bay, Florida:

I live in Glasgow, Scotland and 2 months ago when visiting Palm Bay I was blessed to meet Pat at two fun filled evenings of card games at Veronique and Johan's home. Pat was such fun, so smart, and came across as a really good person. She was one of those people who, once met, never forgotten. Condolences to all her friends, Kevin and family. May she rest in peace 🙏

Pat was an amazing woman who came into our lives only in the last couple of years. Through mutual friends we became a group that would often get together for late dinner after Saturday night church. Her dry humor was infectious and will be missed, and there was never any question how she loved Kevin and the Lord. We will miss you, dear friend….until we meet again. Pat was such a special person. I feel so lucky to have known her. She was truly a good friend. Whenever I needed the company of a friend, she was always there. Either for playing cards, spending time at the beach, going for ice cream, going to the movies, taking long drives, she was always keen and ready to join in. I’m going to really miss her friendship and her kindness. I love you and miss you Pat.
