Randall (Randy) Allen Sooy, 65, of Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Penfield, Ohio, left his earthly life behind on March 1, 2023 at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Florida.

Randy was colorful, outspoken and larger than life. He was also sensitive, sentimental and a
first class practical joker as his many friends and relatives can attest to. Whether he was golfing with his dad, arguing about politics with his sister, or creating some new culinary masterpiece in his kitchen, Randy was happiest and at his best when he was surrounded by the people he loved. He could be stubborn and intractable, but he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it and he would be telling a funny story while he did it. This world will be quieter and a lot less fun for his absence from it.

Randy is survived by his devoted wife of twenty-three years, Sharon Gibson Sooy; his daughter Miranda (Don Wiggins), their children Aidan and Alec Wiggins and Mirandas’ daughter Ashley Sooy; step sons Sam Adams (children Hannah and Liam); Aaron Adams (wife Samantha and children Harper and Deacon); step daughter Ashley Renee Adams (Michael Mattingly); sister Kathy Taylor (Jeff Reichert); niece Lindsey Varga (husband Aaron, children Everly and Piper) and maternal aunt Sharon Hyatt (husband Sherrill); cousins Mike Bell, Tonya Foster (Brent), Fr. David Hyatt (Beth Ann), and Christy Luse (Todd). Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Mary Elizabeth Sooy; his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Thalia Sooy; his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Ruby Bell; his maternal Uncle Robert Bell; his stepson Johnathon Adams, and his nephew Cory Taylor.

A celebration of life will be held in Ohio at a date to be determined this summer.
