Robert “Bob” Allen Parrish Sr.
Robert (Bob) Allen Parrish Sr, age 69, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024, in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on July 21, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan to Bryant Jack Parrish and Bonnie Jean (Brock).
Bob was a beloved father, brother, uncle, companion, and friend. He will be remembered and missed by his family and many friends for his strong will, great sense of humor and fun-loving personality. Bob is survived by his four siblings Jack, Virginia, Charlie, and Ron as well two sons, Rob and Justin, 10 nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.
His lifestyle was nomadic in nature, beginning with his enlistment in the Marine Corps in 1971 where he was given the opportunity to travel the world during his time in the service. This continued with a life on the road as a long-haul truck driver upon his return to the United States. He lived in many places over the years before settling in Florida in the late 2000s where he resided for the remainder of his life, which was the longest he lived in any one state consecutively since leaving Michigan.
After leaving the military, Robert remained a proud Marine throughout his life, and in the twilight of his life he found work with the VA to find ways to assist other veterans and remain true to his military brothers and sisters, so it is only fitting that he will be laid to rest, honored and surrounded by the many other men and women of our nation’s military.
Robert’s funeral service and burial will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Monday, April 15th, 2024, at 14:00, or 2pm.
