Spencer Addison Rowan, 96, passed away on March 16, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Spencer was born on August 17, 1928 in Akron, Ohio. He was the only child of Charles and Effie Rowan. The family eventually settled in Columbus, Ohio where he grew up and met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mary Lou Hartman. They were married for 74 years. They had four children Vickie (Bruce) Mahoney, Kathy (Steve) McGinnis, Gary (Neva) Rowan and Susan (Brian) Clark. They had seven grandkids Timothy Mahoney, Gregory Mahoney, Brendan McGinnis, Cassie Clark, Kaylee Clark, Maryssa Clark and Anastasia McGinnis. Additionally, they had three great grandchildren Jack Mahoney, Ryan Mahoney and Maggie Mahoney.

He worked in sales/marketing for the railroad for 40 years, starting at New York Central to Penn Central to Conrail. After retirement, he and his wife settled in Florida. He loved to travel and has been to every state and many other countries around the world. His favorite destination was Maui. He also enjoyed going on cruises with his wife, family and friends.


Spencer’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2025 at 2 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Palm Bay, 1080 Port Malabar Blvd., NE, Palm Bay, Florida 32905.
