Caroline “Carrie” Rooney

Born on December 22, 1932 in Maynard, Massachusetts
Departed on July 23, 2025 in Palm Bay, Florida

Caroline “Carrie” Rooney, 92 years young, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at William Childs Hospice House on July 25, 2025.

Carrie was an amazing mom, grandmother, and friend to many. Born on December 22, 1932 to Italian parents Dominic Mucciaccio and Maria (Primiano) Mucciaccio in Maynard, Massachusetts. She grew up in Maynard, attending elementary and high school there. She graduated from Maynard High School and upon graduation, she went to secretarial college in Boston. She was surrounded heavily by her Italian roots and loved all things Italian. She was known by many for her home-made Italian sauce and lasagna. She moved to the Melbourne area in 1955 and never left!

Carrie was employed by the City of Melbourne for over 25 years. She had various roles in the water department and code enforcement area. She met and became friends with many of the people she helped all those years and would still see them when she was out and about. When she retired, she graciously took care of her grandson Alex, for the first year of his life. She would still tell stories about some of the little things he did as he was growing up that first year.

When she stopped watching her grandson, she and her best friend Celia, started volunteering with the Melbourne Police Department in the Victim Advocate Department. She called it her “job”. She would always tell us on Tuesdays and Thursdays that she had to go to “work”. Her daughters would always chuckle at that. She was committed to that volunteer service and ended up volunteering for over 20 years. She and Celia at one time were recognized for their long years and also being the age that they were. Her health caused her to stop volunteering about 7 months ago. She really missed it and the people she “worked” with.

She lived in her house for over 50 years and became the matriarch of the neighborhood. She was a second mom to many. She was the kind of person where the little things in life made her happy.

She was predeceased by her parents Dominic and Maria. She is survived by her daughters Donna Rooney, Patricia Rooney Aramayo (Pablo), and the 2 loves of her life; her grandsons Angel Aramayo and Alexander Aramayo (Bethany) and her fur baby, Jagger. Also survived by her brother Matteo, nieces Joann and Michelle and many special friends, especially Dan and neighbors Carol, Rick, Dolores and Harold.

Visitation with the family and a service will be Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 1:30pm at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, Florida. Interment following at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1 S, Rockledge, FL 32955

She is very loved and will be missed greatly!

Donna and Patricia, May God's love surround you with His perfect peace, as you fondly remember the great influence you're Mom had on so many, and may God's sure prmoises fill you with hope. I was one of Carrie's Detective "bosses" as she "worked" in the DV Unit at MPD, every Tuesday and Thursday, like clockwork. Carrie and Celia were welcomed fixtures there with stories and histories of Melboure past, always with a happy smile and a willing heart to serve. Carrie was a wonderful woman and an excellent and dedicated "employee."

Carrie will be greatly missed. She was one half of a team that kept me laughing and enjoying going to work. I knew every Tuesday and Thursday, I could count on them to talk to me and listen to my stories. Carrie, I adored your smile and spirit. Thank you for being such a good person and friend.
