Elmer Clayton Floyd

Born on July 5, 1952 in Watseka, Illinois
Passed on Oct. 27, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida

Elmer Clayton Floyd, 73, entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2025. Born on July 5, 1952, Elmer lived a life rooted in faith, service, and compassion. A devoted man of God, he dedicated his life to ministry and to uplifting others through his work with Youth for Christ, and serving as a pastor at First Presbyterian Church (Aurora, Illinois) Eastminster Presbyterian Church (Indialantic, Florida), Life’s Oasis (Melbourne, Florida), Buena Vida (Melbourne, Florida), and First Baptist Church of Indialantic.
Elmer’s passion for sharing God’s Word was evident in every sermon, conversation, and act of kindness. He especially loved working with youth, inspiring generations to grow in faith and live with purpose. Through his mentorship as a wrestling coach and his leadership in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, he profoundly influenced hundreds of lives. His ministry reached far beyond his local community— his international mission work touched countless people around the world, offering hope, encouragement, and love wherever he went.
Known for his big heart and easy laugh, Elmer had a gift for making people feel seen, supported, and valued. Whether helping someone in need, offering wise counsel, or simply sharing a smile, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Outside of ministry, he found joy in blues music, motorcycles, cowboy boots, and the company of his dear friends and family—who will miss him deeply.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Doris, and his daughters, Rebecca and Leah along with his two son-in-laws, Kip and Kevin, three grandchildren, Marlee, Loen and Loretta, his sister, Dee Splayt and his beloved nieces and nephew. His life was a testament to faith in action and love without limits, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of all those, encouraged, and cared for across the globe.
Elmer’s celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Indialantic Church November 15, 2025 at 1 PM followed by a reception.
Anyone wishing to make an expression of sympathy is asked to consider the First Baptist Church of Indialantic with the Elmer Floyd Mission Fund as a memo.

Our hearts and prayers are with you Doris, Rebecca, Leah, and family.. They say it takes a village to raise children and Elmer Floyd (and you) certainly represent the most dedicated, fearless, God serving leaders in our village.. I know the young people that he coached, mentored, ministered to, and supported in our community, can attest to the love, sense of family and true caring and respect they always felt from, and for Pastor/Coach Elmer. He was there during wrestling practice. He was there for youth group and student life camp. He was there at the nuptials of my son and his wife and Christened our first grandchild, who outreached his extended arms at 9 months old, like she had always known him. He even crossed paths with me at the hospital - just ironically, (God knew) - on days when working a 12 hour shift treating trauma patients got to be a little much. God was kind in placing him in my way on a couple of occasions,. offering an ear and needed prayer. Our family will be forever grateful that God saw fit to have the Floyd family cross our paths. Please let us know if there’s anything you need. In love and gratitude., Tifton and Leah Fordham, parents of John Solter

Funny, I think about him when I make a bed. I heard him many times saying that making it is one of the first things you should do to start the day. He had a big impact on a lot of people, something he enjoyed. My privilege to have known him. Prayers of comfort for Doris and family.
