Roy Austin Flournoy, Sr.
Roy Austin Flournoy, Sr., 89, of Melbourne Beach, Florida with family by his side, peacefully went home to the Lord on December 7, 2025.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on August 6, 1936, Roy spent his childhood in the Texas hill country. He later served in the United States Army with posts in Germany and Fort Benning, Georgia. After serving his country, Roy Sr. earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Corpus Christi and a Masters Degree from Sul Ross State University.
His life calling was education, as a principal, teacher, and coach for over 40 years in both the Texas and New Mexico public school system. Through education and coaching he had a positive impact upon generations of young minds and valued those friendships over many years.
Roy’s pastimes included golf, bridge, bocce ball, and ballroom dancing. He had a love of the New Mexico mountains, as well as his riverfront home in Florida.
He leaves behind his sons Mark and Roy Jr., daughter-in-law Rose Marie, grandsons Jaden and Trevor, and Duwanna (Mullin) Unrue, mother of his children.
Roy Austin Flournoy, Sr. will be laid to rest with honors at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
