Eduardo Ponce

Our father, Eduardo Ponce, went to be in the Glory of God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ on July 14, 2024. He passed of natural causes at Vistas Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Unit in Rockledge, Florida. He was 90 years old.

Eduardo was born on March 20, 1934, in Temax, Mexico. He was a devout Catholic who enjoyed attending Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with his family.

Eduardo loved his family more than life including: his wife Carmen (deceased); his four sons and their wives, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, cousins and nephews.

Eduardo, moved to New York in 1955, became an American Citizen in 1956 and joined Pan American Airways, as an aircraft mechanic in 1956. He eventually settled in Valley Stream, New York with his wife Carmen and his sons Michael, Eric, Warren, and Jeffrey for thirteen years.

While with Pan American, Eduardo won the “Removal of Front Compressor Blade Retaining Pin Rivets” recognized by the Pan American Suggestion Committee in 1960. Eduardo then transferred with Pan Am in 1967 to Pembroke Pines, Florida with his family. While in Pembroke, Eduardo left Pan Am in 1971.

Then he and Carmen ran EP and RC Inc, a very successful roofing and construction business. While in Pembroke Pines, Eduardo was appointed Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee of Pembroke Pines for several years. After his successful roofing business, he became co-owner of Club 19 restaurant. Then he and his wife Carmen moved to Lake Placid, Florida in 1986. While in LPF, Eduardo became the head mechanic with the Highlands County School Board in charge of general maintenance until 1996.

In 1996 he and Carmen built an eleven unit resort motel on the corner of Lake Grassy lake and named it “The Lake Grassy Motel”, which is still a successful resort operating today.

“Eddie” was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and dancing. He always kept busy with projects and loved all his family immensely.
Eduardo is preceded in death by his father Lenin Eduardo Ponce Castellanos; his mother Fausta Castellanos Castro; his brothers Eduardo Ponce, Humberto Ponce, Gaston Ponce, and Jorge Ponce.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1710 S. Hickory Street, Melbourne, Florida 32901.
