John came to the United States with his parents William and Olga Greve and his brother Lionel Greve after World War 2 as displaced persons from Latvia via Germany. He met his future wife June on Long Island and married in 1961. He served in the US Army with a deployment in northern Italy. He was an electrical engineer and worked at Republic Aviation and later, Grumman Aerospace. He worked on many projects including the Lunar Module for the Apollo space program, the Benjamin Franklin rigid hull submersible, the Hydrofoil (supporting a two year deployment in Israel with his family), the X-29, the Mohawk and the JSTARS to name a few. He settled in Florida, where he continued to work for Northrop Grumman until his retirement in 2008.
John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, June and three sons: Erik (Mindi), a naval aviator and Commander in the US Navy; Brian, a librarian; Daniel (Theresa), a software engineer; two grandsons, Ethan and Mason; and a brother Lionel.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
