Rhonda Jean Platt Hammer

Born on March 24, 1959 in Melbourne, Florida
Departed April 25, 2023 in Melbourne, Florida

Rhonda Jean (Platt) Hammer was born on March 24,1959 in West Melbourne Florida and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 25th 2023.
Rhonda was born to Toby and Pat Platt and was raised on a cattle ranch in West Melbourne.
She attended Melbourne High school and graduated in 1977.
She met her husband and the love her life, Mike in 1982 and they tied the knot in 1985 being together for 41 years and married for 38 of those years.
Although she loved to travel, West Melbourne was always her home. She worked at Harris for over 20 years before retiring and becoming a stay at home mom.
She had a passion for animals especially dogs. Throughout the years people have said they wanted to live as one of her dogs because she spoiled them rotten. Rhonda loved every part of living on the ranch, as well as taking care of her cattle/horses.
She took great pride in passing down to her children her never ending love and passion for her ranch. That will always be instilled in their lives. She barrel raced her horses at Trail Riders for many years growing up and had a love of watching football and softball. You wouldn’t catch her missing a Florida Gators game!
Absolutely loved going out on the boat, as well as going fishing, even though she would never bait her own hook or eat the fish. Just loved being out on the water in general.
She was a wonderful wife and mother to her husband Mike Hammer and her two kids Mike Hammer Jr and Brittany Hammer. She also had three beautiful grandchildren, Austin, Jace, and Kason (Gator). Her family was her world and she was so proud of all of them as they were just as proud to call her wife, mom, grandma, and sister.
She was a child of God who knew and loved the Lord and we know now that she is now in heavenly peace in his loving arms. She will be missed beyond what any words can describe.
She is preceded in death by her parents Pat and Toby Platt, and her sister Diane Platt and is survived by her husband Mike Hammer, her two children Mike Hammer Jr (Angelina) and Brittany Hammer and Rhonda’s three grandsons, Austin Taylor, Jace Hammer, and Kason Caudill, and sisters, Scarlet Platt and Julie Harrison (Doug).
Her viewing will be at Brownlie and Maxwell Funeral Home on Friday May 5, 2023 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, the funeral will be on Saturday May 6, 2023 at 9:30am and the procession will immediately follow to Fountainhead Memorial, followed by a Celebration of Life at The Brevard County Airboat Association.
In lieu of flowers, Rhonda had requested that all donations be given to the BCSO Animal Services or your local animal shelter.

I grew up with Rhonda I will always remember her as a teenager. We hung around together and had a lot of fun I was with her the night she met Mike. She loved him every since she met him. Although we had lost touch for many years I will always have fond memories of her and that beautiful smile she always had. We had lots of fun together at Crystal Lake as well. She was a good friend and I'm very sad to hear about her passing. I will be praying for the family as often as I can.

I met Rhonda Hammer when I was six years old through becoming friends with her beautiful daughter Brittany in Kindergarten. I was lucky to develop a friendship with Brit that has lasted our whole lives and at a young age we shared many memories together as close as cousins. From the first time they met me and invited me to their home the Hammers showed me great kindness and warmth and it was evident that Rhonda was the heart that kept her family running. I will never forget riding the four wheelers around the farm to complete chores and Mrs. Hammer showing me the correct way to approach and check a horse or cow for injuries. She treated every horse, cow, dog, and human with the utmost respect and kindness. You saw it in the way she talked to and cared for everything in her life. Her strength of character showed in the actions she took everyday, caring for and raising a beautiful family as well as maintaining a wonderful ranch. The supportive, uplifting friendship she shared with my mom for twenty years inspired the kind of relationships I want to have in my own life and inspires me to be as loyal and compassionate as these women. Rhonda showed her strength in the unending battle she fought against her asthma for as long as I knew her it never kept her down. I also saw true strength in the way she built up our confidence as young women and supported any dream you confided in her. As an anxious girl I often felt things were beyond my capabilities but on the farm Mrs.Hammer didn't accept I don't know how or I don't think I'll be good at it, she just taught you what to do and set you on your path. The world will miss you Mrs. Rhonda Hammer , but we will never forget you. I hope that you are in a beautiful place surrounded by love and family, please give Scotty a hug from me. Sending many prayers and much love to her family and loved ones.

Our deepest sympathy for your loss to all the family. Though we really didn’t get to know Rhonda well, Pat and Toby were special cousins to us and know how they loved their children.. We pray for God’s comfort for each of you in knowing you will see Rhonda and all your loved ones again some day.
