Maria Concepcion “Conchita” Macias- Sommer
Conchita Sommer, lovingly known as “Abue,” “Girlfriend,” and “Mamacita”, “Gordis”passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. She was a long time Florida resident and had lived in Brevard County since 1979. She lived a life full of laughter, love, and unwavering faith, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Conchita was truly one of a kind. She brought joy wherever she went, a beautiful big smile for everyone she came across, and was known for her nonstop jokes, playful spirit, and uncanny sense of humor. Even in her final years, she never lost her spark and wit — always laughing, teasing, and still sharing stories about God, life, love, kids, pets, food, family, and her many adventures. Her ability to make others smile, no matter the moment, was a gift that defined her.
At the center of her life was her deep belief in God. Her faith gave her strength, comfort, and perspective through every season of life. It shaped the love she gave to others and the grace with which she lived.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and great-grandmother who loved her family deeply. She is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Greathouse and Mitzi Carr; her five grandchildren: Nicole Lovall, Allen Greathouse, Alexa Pair, Jasmine Thompson, and Joshua Weeks; and her two great-grandchildren, Addie Lovall and Isabella Lovall.
Conchita had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved toy poodles, and chihuahuas. Over the years, she also cared for cats and birds, always finding joy in the companionship of her pets.
She also loved cooking and gardening, and her specialty was throwing parties and celebrating with delicious feasts; many dishes cooked with culture and love, From, her beloved Mexico. She taught her children to love and enjoy her culture, language, family and customs; which are held close to her children and grandchildrens hearts.
She is now reunited in heaven with her cherished daughter, Marie Weeks, as well as her mother and father, and nine brothers and sisters who went before her. As the youngest of eleven siblings, she carried a lifetime of family, memories, and resilience.
Conchitas spirit, humor, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated.
Please take a moment to write a memory you shared with Conchita, a funny story, or any words you’d like to share for her.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Jackie Greathouse as she and Mitzi will purchase a headstone for Mom.
