Camille Fakhir Freeman of Melbourne, Florida, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 29, 2026. He is survived by his sisters Denise Harran, Victoria Fakhir and Josephine Rabbat, and his brother Charles Fakhir all from Beirut, Lebanon, and many nephews and nieces in the United States and abroad.
Camille was born in Beirut, Lebanon on September 25, 1952, to Ferdinand and Labibeh Fakhir, nee Finan. He married Sylvia Finan Ott Freeman on June 6, 1978, in Houston, Texas. They were married for 48 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Camille was a gifted and accomplished engineer whose career spanned more than four decades in electrical and systems engineering. His work included roles with Lockheed Martin and United Space Alliance, where he supported NASA’s space program. He had a remarkable talent for solving complex problems and improving the systems entrusted to him, approaching his work with ingenuity, precision, and dedication. His family was deeply proud of all that he accomplished, but they will remember him most for the devoted husband, loving brother and uncle, and cherished friend he was.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Finan Ott Freeman, his parents, Ferdinand and Labibeh, his brother Joseph Fakhir, and his sister Minerva Chartouni.
Services will be held for Camille at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 1710 Hickory Street Melbourne, FL on September 5, 2026 at 1pm.
Calling on September 5, 2026 from 12pm – 1pm.
Burial Florida Memorial Garden, Rockledge, Florida on September 5, 2026 at 3pm.

My condolences to all of Camille's family. He was such a kind and welcoming person.
When we visited Barbara and Ray we were always welcomed to all family events.
When we moved to Florida in 1995 to be near Barbara and Ray they became our adopted family. We have wonderful memories of camping on the island, and trying to guess who was playing Santa each Christmas.
I'm so thankful for the way he cared for Barbara and Sylvia. It takes a great man to do what Camille did for them.
He will be missed, but I know there was rejoicing in heaven as he reunitesd with his family.

Camille was a good hearted person him and his wife .
He always was passionate about anything he did .
At work he had the can do attitude and talented engineering skills with hands on experience.
I was very fortunate to travel overseas with him on NASA missions to support Space Shuttle Emergency landing sites.
All engineers who worked with Camille (young or experienced ones) can tell many situations where Camille had his quick approach and thinking of getting problems solved and they worked regardless the challenges .
Camille you are going to be missed .

I was at Camille and Sylvia wedding, we were visiting and seeing each others from time to time.

Camille was amongst the first « American » cousins and despite the distance, he always kept in touch with family. It was a happy moment to see him again few months ago. Keeping in mind his kindness and genuine smile. Camille left us , carrying with him a warmth that we will always cherish . My deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones .
