A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Arrigo (Pfeifer), age 86, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved wife of Salvatore Arrigo for 65 years and the devoted mother of six children: Joseph Arrigo, Jomarie Avino, Jerome Arrigo, Len Arrigo, Connie Tullis, Theresa Nobles and cherished sons and daughters in-law. She was also the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who adored her and cherished her wisdom and kindness.
Mary was born on December 25, 1937 in Hinsdale, Illinois to Jerome and Ruth Pfeifer. She grew up in Hinsdale and met the love of her life, Sal, at a young age. They married in 1958 and started their family, which was always their priority and joy. Mary was a woman of faith and service, who donated her time and talents to Catholic charities, worked for many years at the high school where her children attended, and kept the books for the family business.
She and Sal retired and moved to Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine and visits from their children and grandchildren. Mary loved to cook, read, play cards, go to bingo, and spend time with her family. She was a generous, compassionate, and graceful lady, who touched the lives of many with her smile and warmth.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church on Tuesday July 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities in Mary’s memory. The family would like to thank the staff of William Childs Hospice House for their care and support during Mary’s final days.
Mary will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing that she is now with our Lord and Savior. She will always be in our hearts and prayers.
