Dorothy was born on July 16, 1935, in Lenoir, North Carolina, and moved to Eau Gallie, Florida, when she was just a year old. She spent her childhood in Eau Gallie, where she attended JW Creel School and met her future husband, James Dixson. The couple married in 1952 and built a loving home where they raised their three children. Dorothy started a daycare in her home, and helped raise more than 150 children, many of whom remained in contact with her throughout the years. Children were her world, as well as her strong faith in Jesus Christ as her savior.
Dorothy treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. She had a passion for gardening, knitting, crocheting, and reading, and held a special place in her heart for the beach, where she could soak in the beauty and magnificence that God created in the oceans. She attended Riverside Baptist Church, where her faith and sense of community flourished.
Dorothy is survived by her children: James Dixson Jr. and his wife Delphine, and their children Kimberly, Leslie, James, Rachael, Sanne, and Lennert; Theresa Kelly, and her children Hughie, Corrina, Jason; Candace Narmore and her husband Curtis, and their children Curtis and Catrina. She leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. Was preceded in death by James H. Dixson (husband), and other beloved family members who have passed.

A friend of the family for over 20 years, Dorothy and I along with Theresa and her kids and grandchildren and other family had great times at parties and holidays, vacations in the Smokey Mountains Hiking to waterfalls, caves and ziplining white water rafting. I know Dorothy had a great time. Rest in peace Dorothy.
