Laurie Lee Whobrey
September 10, 1959 – May 3, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Laurie Lee Whobrey, who left this world on May 3, 2025, at the age of 65. Laurie was a beloved wife, devoted mother, treasured friend, and a light in the lives of all who knew her.

Laurie was born on September 10, 1959, in Washington to Veda Marie Loskot and Myron Anderson, raised in Kansas, and eventually made Florida her home, where she raised her family and built a life rooted in love, warmth, and resilience.

She shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Larry Whobrey, and was the proud and loving mother of Madalyn McCrane, Sunni Whobrey, and Larry (Trey) Whobrey III. She was a dreamer, a believer in goodness, and fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She loved deeply, laughed freely, and gave her whole heart to everything and everyone she touched.

Laurie built a successful career in IT, working for Harris and Best Buy, where she was respected for her intelligence and dedication. Outside of work, she was a passionate lover of music and nature, and a joyful collector of friends—her radiant smile and open heart drew people in wherever she went.

Laurie’s presence was a gift, and her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched with kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.

As John Lennon once wrote:
“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.”
She dreamed of goodness, of love, of togetherness—and she lived those dreams out loud, every single day.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Brownlie & Maxwell Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 pm at the American Homesteading Foundation Melbourne Village Hall. All who knew Laurie are welcome to attend and honor her beautiful life.

“Her smile was sunlight, her love a shelter, her spirit unforgettable.”
