ELAINE EVELYN KASTEN MARTIN
Elaine Evelyn (Kasten) Martin was born at home on July 26, 1931, in Jennings, Missouri, to Walter and Edna Kasten (Schuermann). She grew up in Jennings Missouri, as a member of St. Jacobi Lutheran Church and School. She attended parochial school and Jennings High School. Due to her small stature as a child, her much older brothers nicknamed her, and so she was known to family, friends and community as “Wiff.”
On May 26, 1952, she married Harry W. Martin, Jr., in Austin, Texas, where he was stationed in the Air Force. They just celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. They lived in many places including Texas and Florida, before settling in Indialantic, Florida in 1968.
Elaine was an accomplished seamstress working in several businesses before starting her own custom drapery business, Elegant Expressions by Elaine.
She also received a Drafting Certificate from Brevard Community College and worked at TRW, Melbourne. Her hobbies were singing in church choirs and playing piano. She was a life-long Lutheran and was always active in a Lutheran church wherever she lived.
Elaine is survived by her children Yvonne (Bruce) Graham, Harry W. Martin (Linda), Lois Diebel (Ernie), Grandchildren Bruce Graham, Jr. (Trinity), Brad Graham, Brett Graham (Erica), Hannah McCreary (Martin), Austin Diebel, Gina (Michael) Suibielski, Nicole Cottone; 5 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 1 on the way.
A funeral service will be held on July 1, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Hope Lutheran Church, 4541 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne 32935 with family visitation from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm preceding the service. Interment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 Highway 1, Mims, Florida 32754 on July 3, at 1:00 pm.
