In Loving Memory
A Tribute to a Life Well-Lived
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Jody” Jackson Chambers II, who departed this life on May 20, 2025, at the age of 77. A beloved husband, father and friend to many, Jody touched the lives of many with his unwavering kindness, humor, intellect, and loyalty to those he loved.
Jody was born on May 12, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky. His father was a barber, and he moved in several areas: Middletown, Ohio; Fort Myers, Florida; and Fairfield, Ohio until his Senior year. He was Junior Class President, and participated in Varsity Basketball, Track and Cross Country. During his Senior Year, he moved to Melbourne, Florida, with his parents, where he played basketball.
Jody earned his Associate’s degree from Brevard Junior College, Bachelor’s from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science from Florida Institute of Technology.
Jody married Janet Lee Dover in August 1969 and began working as a biology teacher (1971 – 1977). Seeking a more challenging career, Jody began working for Johnson & Johnson’s Nuclear Medical Laboratory in Northern California (1977 – 1980). He then became a sales representative for Phamacia, Inc., in Seattle, Washington, and was promoted to the west coast Regional Sales Manager. In 1998, Jody settled in Georgia to spend more time with his daughter, Dover, and started a career with the State of Georgia to support the establishment of the Georgia Technology Authority.
Jody loved the water. He sailed the Puget Sound, surfed the beaches of Florida, and even ventured into paddle boarding. He believed in learning something every day and remembered every detail. Jody was exceptional at trivia, and claimed his head was “full of useless information.”
Once he read it, he never forgot it. He recalled every Genus and Species of animal, from his studies in college. He loved animals. At one point he rescued five Dachshunds.
Through the years, Jody exemplified the qualities of kindness and humor that led to lasting friendships, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Within a few minutes, Jody would know your name, where you live/lived, what you did for a living and found a common ground to share in conversation for at least thirty minutes.
Jody is survived by his wife, Patti Row, his daughter, Dover Chambers, and step-daughter, Sarah Row, his cousin Allen Taylor, who was more like a brother. He was preceded in death by Joseph “Joe” and Kathleen Chambers.
The family invites all who wish to honor Jody’s memory to a Celebration of Life to be held on August 9th, 2025, at Pelican Bay Club House, 8600 US-1, Micco, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to bring an orchid that may be planted in his memory.
Though Jody may no longer walk among his family and friends, his light and legacy will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing them. May they rest in eternal peace.
Forever in our hearts!
