Lousie M. Kubel

Born on January 14, 1924 in New Bedford, Massachusetts
Passed on December 18, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida

Louise (Magellan) Kubel, 101, formerly of New Bedford and Lakeville, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at her home in Melbourne, FL, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Kubel for 75 years.
Born in New Bedford on January 14, 1924 to parents Manuel and Virginia, Louise graduated from New Bedford High School in 1942 and attended the Kinyon Business School. After her marriage to Stanley in 1945, she stayed home to raise their seven children: Patricia, Elaine, Linda, Janice, Stephen, Sharon, and Debra. Once her youngest was in school, Louise worked as a teacher’s aide at Assawompset Elementary School in Lakeville until her retirement. In 2006, Louise and Stanley moved from Massachusetts to Florida, where they enjoyed 15 more joyful years together with family and friends until Stanley’s passing in 2021.
Louise was a smart, strong, kind, and resilient woman with an independent and industrious spirit. Nothing made her happier than being with her family, including her 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She lived by a few basic mottos, including “Everything in moderation,” “Don’t sweat the small stuff,” and “Don’t give up – even when things are hard.” She always remembered everyone’s birthdays, and she never passed up an opportunity to hold a baby or enjoy a little treat after dinner. When asked about her longevity at her 101st birthday party in January, Louise credited her long, fulfilling life and marriage to her Catholic faith and good nutrition.
Her loved ones will remember her as the calm, steady heart of her home, where she hosted countless holiday and birthday gatherings over many decades and created cherished memories. Her life, lived simply and well, was a true example of her Catholic faith and a model for her family to follow. Her steady presence will be greatly missed by all.
Louise is survived by daughters Patricia (Tom) Moore-Carroll, Elaine Lowther, Janice (Bill) Gallagher, Sharon Kubel, and Debbie (Bob) Hyde and son Stephen (Karen) Kubel. She was the loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Stanley, and her daughter, Linda Gissinger.
Louise’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at Perry Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:30 a.m. Her final resting place will be with Stanley at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.
