With profound sadness and unwavering faith, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Verdan Calim, who peacefully departed this life on June 24, 2026.
Born on April 16 in Dominica, Verdan lived a life rooted in faith, love and service. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for more than 45 years, where she faithfully attended Saturday Mass and joyfully shared her gift of song as a member of the church choir. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and guided the love and compassion she showed to everyone she met.
Verdan was known for her generous heart, her wonderful sense of humor and her honesty. She always spoke her mind with sincerity and those who knew her appreciated her authenticity and strength. She had a way of making people laugh, offering wise advice and making everyone feel welcome. Whether through a kind word, a warm meal, or simply her presence, she touched countless of lives with her kindness and unwavering love.
She also had a passion for travel and enjoyed exploring new places and creating cherished memories with family and friends. One of her most treasured adventures was her trip to Ireland with members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a journey that brought her great joy and reflected both her love of travel and her deep faith.
Verdan leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children, Astrid, Judy, Nuvat and Jeffrey; her beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Jahmila, Jahniya, Jada, James, Isaiah, and Zoe; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Janelis, John, Tristan, Antwan and Junie.
She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Earl, Roney, Jackie, Sylvia, Monique, Darryl, Shyann, Earl Jr., Chantel, Dylan, Ethan, Earl III, Ashleigh, Esther, Cherie, Patricia, Kwame and Cherica, along with many cousins, extended family members, dear friends, fellow parishioners and all whose lives were blessed by her friendship and love.
