Betty J. Smith

Born on October 22, 1945, in Mishawaka, Indiana
Passed on June 20, 2026 in Rockledge, Florida

Betty J. Smith, 80, of West Melbourne, Florida, left us in the early morning hours of June 20, 2026. Born on October 22, 1945, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Betty lived a life defined by devotion—to her family, her work, and the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Wesley Smith, and her parents, William and Margaret Hatch.

Betty retired from the City of Melbourne, where she proudly served as a Utility Administrator for 25 years. Yet her most treasured role was working alongside her parents at their A&W restaurant in Rockledge. Even while attending Business College in Orlando, she returned home every weekend to help at the restaurant and spend cherished time with her father. She continued that tradition until the restaurant closed in the early 1980s.

Betty loved traveling with her dear friends and was known to enjoy the occasional casino adventure. But above all, she loved her family fiercely. She would have set the world on fire for them—whether they deserved it or not. She kept her family close, reminding them often, “I can’t give you much, but I gave you each other.”

She is survived by her daughter April M. Estronza (Carlo) and her sons Shawn Cahill (Rick), Troy R. Caswell (Yvette), and Wesley C. Smith (Tiffany).

Betty leaves behind her grandchildren: Meaghan Caswell, Lindy Younger, Devin Francois, Dustin Caswell, Adrianna Estronza, Kaylynn Lucio, Ian Estronza, Karlee Younger, Dylan Smith, Arianna Castiblanco, Carlos Estronza, and her beloved grand puppies Cricket and Lady Bug.

She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Cole Reising, Jaxen Lucio, Colton Caswell, Myra Hefler, Brooks Reising, Georgia Hefler, Lily Caswell, and Lizy Caswell.

Betty’s legacy is one of loyalty, laughter, and unwavering love. Her family was her greatest joy, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
