Bonnie Lou Craycraft
After lengthy battle with an illness, Bonnie Craycraft of Melbourne, Florida peacefully departed this world on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Bonnie was born in Carter County, Kentucky, the daughter of Owen and Sabra Fraley. She was married to William Craycraft and had 4 siblings, Nadine Cline, Charlene Adkins, Kay Shannon and James Fraley. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter, J. D. and Regina McKenzie
Bonnie graduated high school in Hitchins, Kentucky and because of a dire need in the area for teachers, began teaching school shortly thereafter, teaching in a one room schoolhouse with children of all grade levels. She later graduated from Morehead State University with a B.A. degree in education and taught elementary school for many years with most all being in the third grade. She had said that she taught the third grade mostly because she thought that was the single most important and formative time In a child’s life. When she retired, the teachers whose school rooms happened to be on either side of her particular room, and the principal of that school, at one time had been her very own third grade students.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, William, son and wife, William Jr. and Catherine Craycraft, a niece, Donna Entsminger, sisters in law, Honey Webb, Jane Lappin, and Elizabeth Craycraft. She leaves behind so many other cherished family and friends, as well as those who were fortunate to have known her.
