Deborah Gene (Maxwell) Jermyn

Born June 4, 1955 in Marysville, Ohio
Departed July 15, 2023 in Melbourne, Florida

Deborah Gene (Maxwell) Jermyn, 68, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away July 15, 2023 from complications following heart surgery. Born in Marysville, Ohio on June 4, 1955 to the late James and Judith (Layman) Maxwell, Debbie graduated with honors from Fairbanks High School in 1973. She attended Bluffton College and graduated from Ohio State University with a dual major Bachelor’s Degree in English and Philosophy. She went on to teach English education at Westfall H.S., Marysville M.S., and Fairbanks H.S. She served as Media Specialist at Fairbanks H.S. and was employed at OCLC of Dublin.
Debbie married the love of her life, Larry Jermyn, on June 26, 1982. She will be sadly missed by husband, Larry; sisters Deanna Maxwell, Denise (Doug) Scheiderer; and Dawna (late Brian) Nicol; brother-in-law, Ken (Wendy) Jermyn; nieces and nephews, Cole Scheiderer, Blake (Emily) Scheiderer, Brianne (Richard) Moore, Bailey (Joe) Hackney, and Brent (Kristen) Nicol; great-nieces and nephews, Colin Scheiderer, Sophie and Rhett Moore, Abel, Elliot and Sam Hackney, and Ivy Nicol; Aunt Kay Gregory, Uncle Larry Layman; many cousins and friends.
Debbie had a great love for reading and writing and would have considered this time to not be the ending, but yet the next exciting chapter in her book of life. She was an amazing writer, a superior organizer, wonderful cook and sewer, 4-H award winner, basketball coach, and special mentor to her many students. She took great pride in being a 5-year volunteer of the Union County Veterans Remembrance Committee of Marysville. She had an immense love of everything Disney and enjoyed the 700 plus Disney ornaments which adorned her Christmas tree each year. She enjoyed many wonderful Disney trips with Larry and her family. Debbie was a devoted Mom to six furry family members whom she loved dearly. Above all, Debbie loved all her family so much and was always considered the creative jokester!
A private memorial and burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Daily Bread of Melbourne or Central Brevard Humane Society
