Born on January 22, 1932, in Melbourne, Diana lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Diana graduated from Melbourne High School in 1950, when it was part of the old Ruth Henegar building. She pursued higher education at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, and later at Florida Southern University in Lakeland, Florida, where she graduated in 1954 with a B.S. degree in Secretarial Science.
Diana began her professional career as a secretary at North American Aviation at Cape Canaveral. In 1957, she married Eugene Vernon Sheffield, Jr. at the First Methodist Church in Melbourne. Diana was also a charter member of the Melbourne Municipal Band, where she played the flute and piccolo, and co-chairman of the Old Melbourne High School Reunion Committee for the classes of 1920-1950.
Diana had a passion for music, photography, and researching family history. She also loved to travel and was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit Europe in her later years, a dream she never thought possible. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Vernon Sheffield, Jr.; her parents, Royal Howard Berg and Lucille Peck Berg; and her brothers, Howard, Robert, and Bradford Berg. Aunt Diana was such a kind and gentle soul - and a remarkable person. She was so musically talented - I have such fond memories listening to her when I was a child and playing with her when I was an adult. Her sweet disposition and sly sense of humor touched all of our lives. I love you Aunt Diana, as all of us do. Rest in peace - you will be greatly missed.
