Lois Steele Feiss

Born April 2, 1944, in Salisbury, Maryland
Departed July 18, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida

Lois Steele Feiss, 80, died on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at William Childs Hospice House.

Born in Salisbury, Maryland on April 2, 1944, she was the daughter of George and Lyda May Steele.

Lois is survived by her sons Robert George Feiss, Robert Michael Feiss and Robert Ryan Feiss, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Feiss and her son Robert Drew Feiss.

Lois graduated from a beauty academy in Miami, but then opted to become the owner and manager of a boat sales and rentals company called Pedal Oar Paddle. She ran that for 30+ years, while raising 4 boys and being heavily involved in their lives. She was a high school band mom, a chaperone for many school events, and a staunch supporter of every sport her sons were in. She loved dancing, in every way, but she excelled at clogging; so much so that she was elevated to become the instructor of the Rocky Water Cloggers. And, she was such a good mentor that some of her students went on to lead their own dancing clubs.

Lois was also a skilled painter, having sold many paintings; and, once again, she passed on those skills, teaching at Brevard Community College for years. She was a regular volunteer in the community, having served during the Grant Seafood Festival for 10+ years, gift wrapping for fundraising events, and participating at many, many church functions. Additionally, she took in and took care of two grandmothers (her own, who had dementia, and her husband’s) and her aunt (who had Parkinson’s disease).

In Lois’s free time she loved playing board games and cards. She also loved watching crime shows, science-fiction and movies of every kind. But, most of all, she loved going to Disney. She was an Elvis Presley fan from childhood, and she loved anything to do with the holidays. She decorated her home and adorned herself regularly for St. Patrick’s day, 4th of July and Valentine’s day, but she went above and beyond for Easter, Halloween and Christmas.

Lois’s funeral service is on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2 pm at Wesley Methodist Church, 2075 Meadowlane Avenue, Melbourne, Florida.

Lois was my second cousin. We shared the curly hair that we inherited from great uncle,Dewey Ringler. The Ringlers were a tight knit, loving family. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. A beautiful person inside and out who will be greatly missed.
