Marilyn Helen Leatherberry, 87, passed away January 22nd, 2024, in Melbourne, Florida surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born in Paterson, New Jersey to parents William and Helen Mierop. She graduated from Ridgewood High School and Fairleigh Dickinson College. Marilyn relocated to Florida in 1967, where she and her husband Charles built a strong and loving family.
Mrs. Leatherberry was both a homemaker and a working woman, with a career in real estate in Brevard County for many years. Marilyn is survived by her husband Charles Leatherberry; her three children: Marilyn Chappie (Scott), Patricia Johnson (Donald); Charles Leatherberry (Maureen); and three grandchildren Jessica Sylvester (Elizabeth), Kelly Hoyt (Tyler), and Charlee Leatherberry.
Marilyn Leatherberry, loving wife, mother, and grandmother touched many lives during her 87 years on this earth leaving it a better place. Marilyn was an active volunteer in her community throughout her life. She was recognized as both a Daughter of the American Revolution and Daughter of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and proudly participated in those organizations. She will be remembered lovingly by her family and friends for her creativity, strength, and most of all kindness.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Anglican Church in Melbourne on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. Donations in her memory can be made to the Brevard Zoo:
