Rosemary Gilroy (Tempesta) passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Florida on September 7, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born June 8, 1938 in Newton, Massachusetts, to Assunta Tempesta (Marini) and Donato Tempesta. She was married to Ronald A Gilroy for fourteen years and had three children.
She dedicated her life to raising her three children in Newton, Massachusetts. She loved spending time with her children and cherished grandchildren for whom she had great pride. Her son, Ronald T Gilroy and his wife Naisa Gilroy and two beloved grandchildren, Alexander and Ryan Andre Gilroy and one great-grandchild. Her daughter, Robin Benjamin (Gilroy) and three beloved grandchildren, Christian, Nicole and Daniel Benjamin, and one great-grandchild. Her son, Daniel Gilroy and his wife Donna Gilroy and two beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Dana Gilroy. She is also survived by two brothers, Ned Tempesta and Daniel Tempesta. Her sister, Jeanette Frontero predeceased her.
She loved spending time with her children, during many summers on Cape Cod. She attended Northeastern University studying Chemistry and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She was an accomplished artist painting large abstracts. She enjoyed painting in her home studio and took pride displaying her paintings. Her work was shown in a large exhibition at Brandeis University. She also enjoyed real estate ventures and managing multi-family rental properties. We celebrate her strong spirit, creative energy, and fierce love given unconditionally.
At a later date, there will be a private interment at Newton Cemetery, Newton, MA.
