Vivolyn (Vivo) Verona Lopez

Born on April 19, 1931 in St. Catherine, Jamaica
Departed on January 18, 2022 in Palm Bay, Florida

Vivolyn (Vivo) Verona Lopez was born on April 19, 1931 to the late Edith Christian Deslandes and Alfred Thompson in the parish of St. Catherine, Jamaica. She was called home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2022 at the age of 90, with her family by her side in Palm Bay, Florida. Vivo married Lloyd Patrick Lopez on April 16, 1952 and they were blessed with three children Courtney, Howard, and Karlene.

Family came first for Vivo; she always put the welfare of her children and family as her number one priority. Working as a certified nursing assistant and hair stylist, Vivo provided for her family, despite facing many obstacles and tragedies. Vivo had a trademark smile that defined who she was to all who were lucky enough to cross her path. She was humble, gracious and faithfully loved and trusted in God. She loved to entertain and make friends wherever she went, and was the heart of the party.

Vivo is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Karlene; her siblings: Lloyd, Barbara, Juliette, Marcia, Alvin, and Doreen; her grandchildren Courtney II, Adia, Lance, Lamar, Laura, Leslie, Jordan and Matthew; her great grandchildren Gabriel, Lance II, Aviana, Taylor, Bishop, Lealani, Noah, Ayden, Serina, Isabella and Lucea.

Vivo will forever be loved and she will be missed by her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and large extended family who loved her like a sister, friend and second mom. When we think of Vivo let us all remember, ‘God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.’ (1Corinthians 14:33). When things go akilter, things that we cannot change, let’s all remember Vivolyn’s peace. And one day we will be reunited with our loved ones as Vivo will be with the Lord, her beloved mother Edith, devoted sons Courtney and Howard, and grandson Howard II in God’s Holy Paradise.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 3 pm until 6 pm at Brownlie Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne. Her Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5330 Babcock Street, NE, Palm Bay. Entombment will follow at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to William Childs Hospice House or Mended Heart.

Rest in Heaven, aunt Vivo! I’ve always had your name in my memories. The first Lopez I reconnected with and through you I was able to reconnect with my father, Ronnie Lopez. I will always cherish your warmth, willingness to help and beautiful smile. - Nichole (Niki) Lopez & son Marley
