Hermine Roseann Thompson transitioned on November 29, 2024 in Melbourne, Florida. She was born in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, on the 18th of March, 1938 to Joseph and Agnes Riggs. She was the firstborn girl after a succession of six boys. Hermine graduated from Clarendon College and the University of the West Indies School of Nursing. She migrated to the United States in 1963 and for three decades pursued her nursing profession at Misericordia Hospital Medical Center, Bronx County New York, currently Montefiore Medical Center North Division. Hermine was a charge nurse in surgery / gynecology and later formally retired at Health First.

She will be sorely missed, not only by her husband, family members and dear friends, but by countless individuals whose lives she has molded and shaped throughout her nursing profession and beyond.

Hermine is survived by her husband Dr. Winston Thompson; her sister Lillybelle; two brothers Patrick and Gerald; stepchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Her viewing is on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Road, SW, Palm Bay, Florida, 32907. Her Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
