Joan Jackson

Born on October 5, 1934 in Honaker, Virginia
Departed on March 22, 2021, in Titusville, Florida

On Monday, March 22, 2021 Joan Jackson, devoted and loving mother of two sons passed away at age 86.

Joan (Jo Ann) was born on October 5, 1934, in Honaker, Virginia to John and Flossie Combs. She attended school in Beckley, West VA. Joan moved with her family to Florida in the early 50’s. During that time period she met Paul Jackson at the Kennedy Space Center and soon thereafter Paul and Joan married. The couple raised two sons, John Gregory Jackson (Greg) and Richard (Rick) Alan Jackson.
In 1957 Joan’s father John built two homes side by side, one for Joan’s family and one for her sister Imogene (Jean). The two sisters lived side by side ever since.
Joan was a sports fanatic, she never missed an Orlando Magic basketball game and she knew every race car driver in NASCAR. Jeff Gordon was her all-time favorite driver and it broke her heart when he retired.
Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She made it her mission in life to take care of others. Family and friends looked forward to her annual Christmas party. Her house was decorated like a winter wonderland and her Christmas tree was absolutely stunning.
Joan was a fantastic cook and she made sure nobody got up from the dinner table hungry. She was serving her famous angel icebox cake before anyone had the chance to get up from the table.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents John and Flossie Combs and her husband Paul Jackson. Surviving family members are her sister Jean Smith, her sons and daughter in laws Greg & Patti Jackson, Richard & Maria Jackson. By her grandchildren and their spouses, Travis & Megan Jackson, Courtney & Jason Geld, Michelle & Kris Conner, Melissa and Erik Thornton, her great grandchildren, Reese, Callie Jo, Charlee, Bryce and Jayce. And by her nephews Brent and Brad Smith.

A graveside service will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband Paul on Friday March 26th at 2pm with the Rev. Mark Harpold officiating.

Joan will be deeply missed by all.
