Kevin Michael Donaldson

Passed on October 13, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida
Kevin Michael Donaldson, age 70, of Palm Bay, Florida died of a heart attack on October 13, 2025.
He is survived by his two children Michael and Jeanne, and their spouses Paul Soto and Maura Cregan, respectively; his two grandchildren Carmen and Maya Soto; the love of his life Elizabeth (Liz) Donaldson and his siblings Karen Tate and Ken Donaldson. He was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Woodrow Donaldson.
Kevin was born on September 21, 1955 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and he always considered himself an “old Florida boy.” He loved being on the water to swim, surf, fish, or just watch the wildlife. He was incredibly handy and enjoyed taking things apart to teach himself how to put them back together. He was calm, kind, tender-hearted (unafraid to cry during sad movie), and appreciated a good conversation. He also appreciated a cold beer, which eventually cost him everything. But before his tragic turn with alcoholism, he was a successful and astute businessman and co-owner of Mattern Wholesale Florist with Liz. Together, they were able to purchase his dream home on the water (well, it was a dump when they bought it, but eventually became a beautiful home) where he could fish in his back yard and from his deck, watch the osprey carry their catches (always with the fish head facing forward, as he’d make sure to point out to anyone else who saw).
He and Liz also traveled across the country and the world, sometimes with their children. On many hikes through National Parks, Kevin was known to carry Jeanne while she loudly whined. He attended every sporting event, school performance, piano and guitar recital, and home magic show in which his children participated. He spent most of his life being a great husband and dad. He has been and will continue to be incredibly missed.
A private service was held to celebrate his life on October 18, 2025.
