My mother was a woman of fierce strength and a protective nature that served as a constant shield for our family. As her adopted child, I know I was chosen, and that choice gave me a life and a sense of belonging I can never fully repay. My regret is that the clock ran out too soon. Some of my clearest memories of her are the simplest.. sitting together in the dark of a Broadway theater, watching Phantom of the Opera, and realizing that she was giving me her own love of music. She was my first home and my first teacher, and every time the music starts, it's her I will always reach for. I love you mom. -Elizabeth
