Luz Danise Lee

Born on August 20, 1939 in New York City, New York
Passed on January 15, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida

Luz Danise Lee, a loving wife and caring mother, also a pioneering and dedicated nurse anesthetist, passed away on January 15, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 20, 1939, in New York City, Luz spent her life breaking barriers and transforming the field of nursing with her compassion, commitment, and expertise.

Luz’s journey into nursing began with a strong educational foundation. She earned her certificate of preliminary education from the Department of Public Instruction in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on October 30, 1959, setting the stage for her future contributions to the medical community. She received her diploma from the Germantown Dispensary and Hospital on August 31, 1961, and went on to further specialize in anesthesia, graduating with a diploma from the Nazareth Hospital School of Anesthesia for Nurses on October 4, 1963.
On November 24, 1965, Luz became a registered nurse, marking a milestone in a career dedicated to patient care. As a certified nurse anesthetist, Luz was a proud member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, where she was recognized as an emeritus member for her lifelong contributions to the profession.

Her professional accomplishments, however, were matched only by her profound impact on those around her. Luz was known for her deep empathy, skilled hands, and unwavering commitment to her patients. She was a tireless advocate for the nursing profession, and her efforts helped elevate the role of nurses in anesthesia and other critical care areas, ensuring that future generations of nurses could thrive in their careers.
In her personal life, Luz was a devoted wife to John Mackie Lee III and a loving mother to their son, John Mackie Lee IV. While her son pursued a different career path, Luz’s influence on his life and the values she instilled in him were immeasurable.

Luz’s legacy extends far beyond her professional achievements. She was a compassionate and caring presence in the lives of her family, friends, and colleagues. Her warmth and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for her work in healthcare but for the love, kindness, and support she gave to everyone around her.

Luz is survived by her husband, John Mackie Lee III, and her son, John Mackie Lee IV and his family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Nelson Tiller and Florence Cerecedo Ryan, and her brother, Bill Ryan Jr. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Luz Danise Lee’s legacy as a compassionate nurse, a loving wife and mother, and a trailblazer in her field will continue to inspire generations to come.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2025, at the Irene H Canova Park Community Building 2289 Hwy AIA Indian Harbour Beach, Florida 32937.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation https://www.aana.com/aana-foundation/how%20to%20give/ or to a local music education foundation of your choice in Danise’s name.
